New Children's Astro-Musical Opens March 9 at The Chameleon

Generation Goat Rocket’s Stage Right for Earth opens at The Chameleon Theater on March 9, and plays Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm through March 24. Written and directed by Phina and Sophie Pipia, this cosmic adventure is brought to life by an ensemble of 26 young actors, ages 6-13 for audiences of all ages.

Set in 1959 in a small town in South Dakota, the story follows Buffalo Brewster (Emily Biskup) and Crater McCarthy (Talon Kingsolver), two kids who decide it’s time to pack their bags, and move to the nearest galaxy. With the help of their neighborhood gang of budding scientists (Cedar Elliott, Chance Allender Bates, Torriana Minnihan, and Lily O’Shea) and engineers (Sophia Frank, Skyler Ryhane Stout-Bates, Chloe Henery, and Grace Wentzel); these starry and stouthearted explorers convert their bedroom into a space center manned by flight controllers (Peach Benson, Juniper Copeland, Nylah Garling, Hunter Heim, Alexa Henery, Savannah Murphy, Isabella Scott-Fletcher, Halli Trafton) led by the Head of Mission Control Center (Zula Mosher), and create a rocket ship to carry them through the stars to their new home.

When the Brewsters’ neighbors (Ray Carnighan, Sarah Carpenter, Clara Dale, Celeste Gardner, Hunter Havens, Marie Meacham, and Norell Stirling) attempt to abort the mission, taking every step possible to keep their best friends here on earth; Buffalo and Crater must decide whether to abandon their expedition, remaining on their home planet, surrounded by friends and family, or venture into the unknown worlds beyond.

The Pipia sisters provide live musical accompaniment on accordion, guitar, ukulele, and piano. Misha Cassella-Blackburn joins the creative team as assistant director.

Stage Right for Earth is sponsored by Tickled Pink, Seven Cedars Casino, and Alchemy Bistro and Wine Bar. The Chameleon Theater is located on Castle Hill, 800 W Park Ave. General admission: $12.00. Children 12 and under: $8.00. Available at The Food Co-op, 414 Kearney St., online at brownpapertickets.com, by calling the box office at 360-379-1068, or at the door 30 minutes before curtain.
